Madrid. The Japan authorities asked the United States to be free from reciprocal commercial tariffs announced by President Donald Trump, who would enter into force not before April to match the taxes that American products face in foreign markets.

The petition occurred in a bilateral meeting between Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iweaya, and his American counterpart, Marco Rubio, held on Saturday outside the Munich Security Conference.

IWayaya not only asked Rubio to exclusion from tariff on a next datethe Japanese Foreign Ministry reported.

In the same note, exteriors said that Iwayaya and Rubio agreed that they will maintain a narrow communication to further strengthen economic relations between Japan and the United Statessomething a priori incompatible with the tariff measures of the Trump administration, against which it has protested Japanese minister.

These statements come after Trump ordered to study the imposition of reciprocal tariffs on their commercial partners of the first world economy.

The president’s proposal goes through the creation of a system that redefines commercial relations with each of its partners and in which there is no place for Exceptionssince all the actions taken will be reciprocal.

These measures would be aimed at counteracting non -tariff commercial barriers, such as excessively regulatory legislation, VAT differentials, public subsidies or exchange policies that harm US exports.
