META plans to connect the US and India with the longest underwater cable in the world

The Waterworth project involves the laying of a cable, the length of which exceeds 40 thousand km – the length of the circle of the Earth.

Meta announced plans to create the world’s extended underwater cable, which will connect the United States, India, South Africa, Brazil and other regions. The technological company said that a project called Waterworth includes a gasket of an underwater cable with a length of 50 thousand km.

This cable will become the longest at the moment and will be equipped with a system of 24 fiber -optic couples, which will provide its high throughput and support for projects in the field of artificial intelligence.

The cable will be laid at a depth of up to 7000 meters, its laying will take place using modern deepening methods in zones with an increased risk of faults, such as shallow water near the coast, to minimize the risk of damage from the anchors of ships and other threats.
