Strabag appoints Stefan Kratochwill as the new CEO

The supervisory board of the listed Strabag has the 48 year old on Wednesday Stefan Kratochwill appointed with immediate effect to be chairman of the board.

A few weeks ago his predecessor was Klemens Haselsteiner died surprisingly. Kratochwill was most recently head of the central area and managing director of Strabag-Baumaschinen-Daughter BMTI GmbH. There he was internationally responsible for around 3,000 employees, as Strabag announced on Wednesday.

Kratochwill studied industrial engineering machine construction at the Vienna University of Technology. He has been in the Strabag group for over 20 years.

Haselsteiner died unexpectedly

Klemens Haselsteiner, son of the company masterminds Hans Peter Haselsteiner (81), was in mid-January died unexpectedly at the age of 44. There he built up the organizational structures of the group’s construction machine subsidiary, Strabag BMTI GmbH, in the countries of Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia and Montenegro. Kratochwill later headed the European track construction machine business until he promoted the central area manager and managing director of the Baumaschiner daughter Strabag BMTI in 2017.

“I am convinced that technological progress will provide us with an even greater market position in accordance with our economic goals,” the neo-board member is quoted at the Strabag homepage. “The tragic loss of Klemens Haselsteiner hit us all deeply. It is a personal concern for me and an honor to continue his vision for Strabag.” Now one will “go on the way to a sustainable future”.

Strabag largest construction group in Austria
