The Ministry of Finance and the MNB agreed to increase salaries in the police and the prison service

The Ministry of Finance and the MNB agreed on the increase in the salaries of the Israeli police and the prison service by 1.08 billion shekels in total.

Police and employees will receive a 3% increase in salaries as part of a collective labor agreement of the Universal Federation of Trade Unions with the Ministry of Finance on Salary of civil servants, which entered in January 2025.

From 450 to 900 shekels per month retroactively from January 2024, they will receive as part of the binding of their salaries to the salaries of officers and warrant officers of the IDF.

The remaining part will be obtained under the contract between the Ministry of Finance and the MNB signed last year.

In total, this year the salaries of police and prisons should grow up to 2000 shekels, and until the end of 2028 another 1000 shekels.

The parties agreed that the police and the prison service would not apply for the allowances that the military will receive on the recommendation of the Nagel commission, and will also not claim to automatically increase the level of operational activities of all their employees from October 2023 to January 2024.

At the same time, the temporary Minister of National Security, Chaim Katz, said that his department did not only intend to allow the cancellation of the binding of police officers to the salaries of the military, but intends to achieve the expansion of this binding.
