Piloting the model of ‘old people starting, collecting and classifying waste’

Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long has just signed a decision to approve the project of the elderly participating in promoting numbers, green conversion, start -up and job creation.

The project aims to promote the potential of the elderly in the above fields, while raising social awareness about the role of this generation. By 2030, each province has at least five models of the elderly in collecting and classifying waste at source, three models of organic agricultural production, circulating economy.

Besides, at least 1,260 elderly people are supported to start a business, 100,000 people have jobs from these startup models.

90% of the elderly are raised awareness about the fields of digital and green conversion as well as starting a business. 50% of them proficient in basic digital skills, including online public services, online shopping, online payment, and self -protection on cyberspace.

Elderly people are regulated from 60 years of age and over, will be supported resources to maintain and replicate the appropriate business model or build a new model in the community.

In order to accomplish the above goals, the Deputy Prime Minister requested to pilot the model of elderly people participating in digital transformation in production, management and social development. With green conversion, support conditions for them to participate in labor – production, build a household model of planting trees and protect the environment.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is assigned to assume the prime responsibility for carrying out the task of the elderly to promote green and circulating economic conversion. The contents of digital transformation and entrepreneurship respectively are led by the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The Central Vietnam Association of Elderly Developments, funding for the assigned tasks, and mobilized socialization resources and international organizations to support the operation of the project.
