PostNL asks millions of support, Dutch government refuses

According to PostNL, the mail delivery has become loss -making because the Dutch are sending fewer and fewer letters. That is why the postal company wants support to maintain mail delivery in its current form. That would be necessary until the government adjusts the postal law and, for example, the legal delivery period is up for several days.

The company alluded earlier that financial support would probably be necessary. Now an application is officially submitted.

In a statement, the Ministry of Economic Affairs immediately says no to the request. Support is “not an issue”, it sounds.

“As is known, the Ministry of Economic Affairs develops measures for the future of the postal market based on various studies that are still ongoing.
