FedEx Group wants to expand business in Vietnam

The world’s largest courier FedEx proposed research to expand operations at Long Thanh and Gia Binh airports in the near future.

At the meeting with General Secretary To Lam on the afternoon of February 25, the founder and Chairman of FedEx Group Frederick W.Smith assessed the development of infrastructure, favorable geographical location are important factors Trong brought Vietnam into a dynamic economic center of the region.

“FedEx believes that Vietnam is converging all the factors to become an important logistics center of the region and the world,” he said, adding that the corporation wants to expand its operations in Vietnam.

This, according to FedEx, will contribute to support Vietnam to improve transport capacity and connect to the global supply chain. Currently this group provides services at Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai airports, using B76 aircraft.

This year, Vietnam – USA to celebrate the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations. The two countries have upgraded relations to comprehensive strategic partners. On the Vietnamese side, the operator aims to grow at least 8% this year, preparing to enter the breakthrough period.

According to General Secretary To Lam, Vietnam is promoting three strategic breakthroughs to achieve high growth goals, especially in infrastructure. Therefore, he asserted supporting FedEx to continue expanding its operations in Vietnam in strong areas such as infrastructure, services and transportation.

This helps contribute to the global supply chain and make Vietnam an important center in the international logistics network, according to the General Secretary.

He asked FedEx to cooperate with Vietnam’s regulatory agencies to soon implement the business expansion plan. Along with that, he hoped that this group would prioritize the Vietnamese market, as well as Vietnam will prioritize partners with long -term cooperation process like FedEx in the past 30 years.

FedEx is a large US enterprise, owning FedEx Express – the world’s leading courier service company with a network of up to 220 countries. This delivery house has been present in Vietnam since 1994.
