Egypt agrees to the “Arab Common Market Agreement for Electricity”

The Egyptian Cabinet approved, in its meeting, on Wednesday, headed by Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, on a draft resolution on the “joint Arab market agreement for electricity” and the “General Agreement for the Establishment of the Joint Arab Electricity Market” in light of the importance of the vision of comprehensive Arab electrical connection as one of the most important Arab integrative projects, which paves the way for the establishment of a joint Arab electricity market. The Council of Ministers said in a statement after the meeting: The agreement is based on the existence of a strong institutional framework accompanied by a complete infrastructure for the electrical connection between the Arab countries, taking into account the technical aspects of the market integration, along with a legislative framework for the governance of the electricity market.
