Appetite grows for vegetable meat: Happyvore hires 20 people this year in its Loiret factory

Happyvore is a young growing shoot. Two years ago, this company born in 2019 opened its factory in Chevilly (Loiret), at the gates of the Orleans agglomeration, to produce vegetable meat. Since then, she has continued to grow, with a concept now well established. It develops pea, soy or wheat products, which are textured and flavored to imitate meat, with the ambition to seduce not only vegetarians, but also all those who want to reduce their consumption of meat for health reasons and to limit their carbon impact, without completely giving it up …

HAPPYVORE, who had started with 40 employees on the site today employs 60 and intends to hire 20 more in 2025 and 10 others at the Paris headquarters, which should bring the total workforce of the company to 180 employees.

Price that drops despite inflation

Inside the factory, the lines run in 2 x 8 to release around twenty references, such as plant steaks, nuggets, sausages and needles, which are among the best sales and are mainly marketed in large distribution. Last year, volumes jumped 50 % and, this year, the increase should still reach 30 or 40 %.

“The market did not have the progression that was predicted a few years ago, but it remains quite dynamic,” nuance Guillaume Dubois, co -founder of the company. “We are now number 2, just behind Nestlé, with 19 % of market share. »»

Despite inflation, Happyvore has lowered its prices, which has helped attract consumers, and continues to invent new products. At this stage, the company is not yet profitable, but it intends to become it quickly thanks to the continuation of its growth, and then hopes to establish itself as a “leader” of vegetable meat in Europe.
