Vietnam collected more than VND 1,500 billion from crab exports

According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Processing and Export (VASEP), this is an impressive growth among seven main export seafood groups.

The reason is thanks to high demand from China. This market likes Vietnamese crabs, along with stable purchasing power from Japan, which has helped the turnover increases sharply. The competitive advantage of Vietnamese crabs lies in guaranteed quality, no antibiotics, helping to strengthen confidence in the international market.

Forecast for the whole year, this item can reach more than $ 350 million thanks to the global demand to continue.

In addition to crabs, Vietnam’s seafood exports in the first two months of the year reached US $ 1.42 billion, up more than 18% compared to the same period of 2024. Shrimp continued to lead with 542 million USD, up 30.8%. Others also record impressive growth such as shell mollusks (39 million USD, up more than 121%) and ink, octopus (101 million USD, up 13.8%).

In contrast, pangasius decreased slightly by 0.8% to 253 million USD, due to the increase in raw materials and the US tariffs tightened. High inventory in the US also restrained the recovery momentum, forcing the industry to be cautious in expanding production.

VASEP believes that seafood exports are also facing challenges from the EU and US MMPA and MMPA rules, requiring more intense traceability. If not responded, many items are at risk of being banned from import, affecting export turnover. The solution lies in the coordination between the Government, businesses and fishermen to build a sustainable supply chain, ensuring long -term growth.

If Vietnam improve product quality, stabilize the source of raw materials early, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, this year’s export turnover can reach 11 billion USD.
