Agricultural products accelerate inflation; Follow in the Bdem range

Inflation rebounded in February, as it was 3.77 percent due to the increase in agricultural products prices such as egg, banana and lemon, the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) reported.

After the National Consumer Price Index (INPC) was 3.59 percent, the lowest level since 2021, for the second month of 2025 a slight acceleration was observed.

Despite the above, for the second successive time this measurement is maintained within the objective of the Bank of Mexico (BDEM), which is 3 percent with an interval of a percentage point up or down.

In January he added three consecutive months down, with what now changes that trend.

INEGI indicated that monthly inflation was 0.28 percent, minor data compared to the average of the last 15 years.

According to the INEGI, the dynamism of the annual measurement was explained by the increase in the price of egg, banana and lemon, as well as beef and pork. Although other services such as general hospitalization, lonchartas, fondas, tortías and taquerías, restaurants, own housing and tuitions of universities also increased slightly.

In contrast, the products that observed a reduction in their costs were tomato, onion, nopales, watermelon, grapes, carrot, green tomato, potatoes and zucchini.

The non -underlying price index, which includes goods and services whose prices are more volatile, showed a decrease of 0.39 percent compared to January. However, in its annual variation this component was 4.08 percent, while the previous period was 3.34 percent.

Inside, the prices of energy and rates authorized by the government increased 3.57 percent compared to the second month of 2024, a data that resulted as the lowest since March of last year and, therefore, there is less pressure in this area.

Livestock products increased their cost by 10.57 percent per year, the highest rate since December 2022, while fruits and vegetables fell 5.54 percent.

The underlying price index, which determines the trajectory of general and long -term general inflation, observed an advance of 4.08 percent compared to the second month last year. The data is the lowest since March 2022.

Inside, there was an increase in food, drinks and tobacco of 3.78 percent per year, tuition in educational services advanced 6.39 percent and housing increased 3.73 compared to February last year.
