The objective of the research – underlines IVASS – is to describe the trend of car RC prizes in relation to the trend of the profitability of the branch and quantify its increases for market bands. The analysis takes into account price variables such as the characteristics of the insured, vehicles and contractual clauses. The research also analyzes the empirical correlation between the increases in the premiums and the increase in the costs of the claims (expected or made). The increase in Auto RC prizes – continues the analysis – has also affected other European countries which, like Italy, in recent years have affected the increase in inflation. In our country, an increase of less than +19.6% in other EU countries has been recorded.

In the ranking Italy is positioned at twentieth place. In addition, the increases were heterogeneous according to the characteristics of the insured (age, province of residence, class of bonus-musus) and the presence or absence of accessory guarantees: the increase is greater for central Italy (+15.5%), follows the North (+14%) while the variation is less in the South (+11%), where the premiums were higher at the start; The average prize of insured in the first class of the bonus-Malus grew by 13%, while the increase is higher for the other insured (+17.8%); The youngest insurance were most penalized by the Auto RC increases, with an increase of 23.4% for Under-25s compared to +12% for over-60s. Finally, the research shows that the Auto RC prizes respond with a delay of about 9 months compared to the trend of the consumer price index.

The increases analyzed in 2024 hypothesize a relationship with the greater cost of claims with non -pecuniary damage to people for the update of the so -called Milan tables.
