Fortum and Loviisa rubbing the plot stores of the new nuclear power plant

Today, the City of Loviisa announced that it would proceed in a real estate transaction that would open up the opportunity to build a nuclear power plant. The real estate transaction has a draft cooperation agreement, which is advancing today to the first decision -making phase. The matter will be discussed by the Loviisa Business and Infrastructure Committee. The contract covers the city-owned approximately 300 hectares of land in the Källa-Hästholmen area.

The design of the project is a long process that is promoted in close cooperation with the city, authorities and experts in various fields. The scope of the whole and the use of land are specified through zoning and land use agreements. They are expected to be completed by 2032 in cooperation with the City of Loviisa.

The purchase price is EUR 10.6 million. The price is based on expert assessments made by the trade. Fortum is responsible for the planning costs. With the zoning, the company will replace half of the country’s appreciation for the city. Future compensation will depend on the number and schedule of the areas to be planned. The total can be expected to be significantly higher than the purchase price of the raw.

The City of Loviisa and the Eastern Uusimaa region hope to have other economic benefits from the real estate transaction. The city lists the jobs and tax revenue that will be included. Developing land areas with Fortum can also lead to new future investments that would increase the vitality of the Loviisa region.

The plot proceeds will proceed to the Loviisa City Government on March 17 and to the City Council on March 26, 2025.
