Pollution: can we really filter tap water?

Eternal pollutants, lead residues, herbicides … Although tap water is drinking almost everywhere in France, repeated alerts on possible contamination. The one in the bottle, in addition to the ecological aberration because of the tons of plastic it generates, is hardly better off. Result: more and more households seek to equip themselves, hoping to rid their water with these components … but also to remove a taste – of chlorine and metallic – sometimes pronounced.

“Sales of filtering decanters are in strong development,” confirms Frédéric Rousseau, category manager at Fnac-Darty. Their operation is based on a filter with a very fine mesh which retains large particles as well as on the principle of active coal.
