The authorities of the Italian city are trying to solve the problem of depopulation and abandoned streets, selling houses at the price of espresso, writes CNN.
In the Penne, located in the central part of Italy, in the Abruzzo region, in an attempt to stop the outflow of the population, abandoned houses are sold in one euro. According to the mayor of the city of Zhilberto Petrucci, there are more than 40 abandoned buildings in Penna. All of them are located in the historical center, which fell into decay after entire decades ago, entire families began to leave this area massively.
The first three houses, the cost of which was one euro, were sold in 2022. The second group of three houses was sold at the end of last year. Buyers were mostly Italians. According to the mayor, the next group of several real estate objects will be put up for sale over the next few weeks, and, in all likelihood, others will follow it. The main conditions for an unusual transaction – the new owner is obliged to carry out repairs in the building for three years.
It is reported that local architects, surveyors and builders will support real estate buyers. As Petruchchi noted, the city authorities really want to help those who take up the restoration of the historical region. It is also indicated that if there are several applicants for one house, it will be sold to those who will have the best and most operational repair plan. For those who do not want to engage in restoration, ready -made objects are offered, but at a price of at least 40 thousand euros.
Similar programs operate in several places in Italy, including cities and small villages.
