The German car manufacturer BMW will integrate artificial intelligence (AI) of the Chinese internet giant Alibaba in his cars for the Chinese market. Both companies announced this on Wednesday.
BMW will use AI from Alibaba Dochter Banma, based on the Language Model Qwen developed by Alibaba, in its future cars for the Chinese market. The technology will be part of a new smart personal assistant with voice recognition for the infotainment system that BMW is working on.
China is an important market for BMW. In the country there is increased competition under pressure from local builders of electric cars, and in particular BYD.
Earlier, Qwen was integrated into cars from the Chinese constructors Xpeng, Zeekr and Leap engine. Alibaba – best known as e -commercial giant – has focused considerably in recent months on the development of AI technology, according to CEO Eddie Wu now the “main objective” of the group.
