KL’s data: Ukrainian security arrangements are now being made at a rapid pace – Russia and USA are worrying

State leaders in the Ukraine alliance will meet in Paris on Thursday. The topics of the meeting include strengthening the support for Ukraine, negotiations to create a ceasefire and sustainable peace, and the related security arrangements.

Before you can go to the security arrangements offered to Ukraine, let alone sustained peace should know what the US president Donald Trump The controversial downtown ceasefire agreement for the black sea safety is included.

In connection with the agreement, the United States has announced that it will begin to dismantle sanctions on Russian agriculture and fertilizers.

In addition, the United States promises to promote the access of Russian ships to ports and their insurance premiums and help Russia return to the international payment systems of banks.

After the US announcement, Russia made things differently: it set a condition for the dismantling of shipping and banking packages for the entire ceasefire agreement, even though the United States only promised to promote them.

According to Russia, the opening of Nord Stream gas pipes is also in the discussions.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyi has already accused Russia for lying and manipulation.

On Wednesday, Zelenskyi said in an interview with France 2 that the Black Sea ceasefire is important above all to Russia. At the same time, he said the United States was currently under the influence of Russian narrative.

European concerns

According to Kauppalehti, leaders arriving in Paris are worried that the Trump administration is proceeding too quickly in mitigating sanctions and abandoning an important means of pressure on Russia.

Trump wants a quick peace and fear is, the United States may be cut off again as a clamping tool, and inquiring to Ukraine while bilateral negotiations with Russia.

It is also concerned that the United States has excluded Europe from negotiations, which are also concerned, for example in terms of sanctions.

Polish Prime Minister attending the Ukraine meeting on Thursday Donald Tusk Said Wednesday that Europe does not seem to have much say and therefore “must be ready for many scenarios.”

Before fair peace in Europe is not ready to relax Russia’s sanctions. On the contrary, it is emphasized that the Russian sanctions need to be tightened.

President Zelenskyi also hopes that the United States will strengthen its Russian sanctions.

Polish Prime Minister is unlikely to be fair and sustainable peace, not only in Ukraine but also for European security, so that Russia does not take new military action to achieve its goals.

Ukraine’s European partners should quickly find ways to add weapon assistance to Ukraine, especially if the United States tries to put pressure on Ukraine’s peace of use on conditions that benefit Russia.

So far, increasing European weapon aid has been based on volunteering in individual countries.

The EU has not agreed to increase the new common weapon aid, as the large and debt of Europe; Italy, France and Spain, have not agreed to a model based on GDP.

For a long time, Ukraine and Europe have emphasized that the recent warranty of Ukraine’s security arrangements is needed by the United States.

Security guarantees may come from Americans, at least indirectly, if the mineral dile negotiated by Ukraine and the United States comes into force.

Ukraine’s NATO membership has also been considered a strong security guarantee. However, it is considered unrealistic. On the other hand, there is now a lot of work to promote Ukraine’s EU membership, especially in the Nordic countries.

According to Kauppalehti, the concrete role of Europe in Ukraine’s security arrangements is now being played at a “fast pace”.

According to Zelensky, in Paris, Ukraine’s security guarantees are specifically discussed.

For Europe, it is about sending troops to Ukraine to monitor a ceasefire. They would not participate in the battles, but would do control and joint training with the Ukrainian troops.

The challenge, however, is that while thinking about Ukraine’s security arrangements, the countries have to decide what they themselves do in their security arrangements.

On Thursday, Paris may be the most concrete to hear from France and the UK, which “possibly” will tell about their own contribution to security arrangements. France has already announced a new set of EUR 2 billion.

President attending the Paris meeting Alexander Stubb Said on Wednesday, according to Yle, that he would not make sense for Finland to send troops to Ukraine to monitor the early ceasefire.

“But the door must be left open to send troops later as part of the peace process and the international mandate operation,” Stubb said.
