Georgina Saldierna and Andrea Becerril

Before the very high Volatility that prevails in the markets due to the change in the geopolitical environment, the director of Petróleos Mexicanos Internacional (PMI), Margarita Pérez Miranda, said that Pemex’s policy is diversifying and looking for better opportunities.

If the possibility of bringing more competitive gasoline to Mexico opens, it will be done, he stressed in a forum on energy carried out in the Senate.

The official stated that when there are changes in the geopolitical environment, not having certainty generates volatility. He put for example what happened with the announcement of the United States to impose tariffs on Venezuela that raised the price of crude.

That volatility dragged all fuels. The oil went to 15 percent, gasoline at 9 and diesel to 13 percent, he added.

Faced with such a situation, the PMI director said that the strategy of the parastatal has always been diversified in the markets.

In addition to bringing gasoline at competitive prices, Pérez Miranda explained that alternative markets for crude oil exports must also be opened.

The Deputy Secretary of Energy Planning and Transition of the Ministry of Energy, Jorge Islas Samperio, who recalled that during the past six -year term, investments in the electricity sector for 20 billion dollars were present in the same forum, so that the electricity generation and distribution system has reliability.
