Stubb in Paris: This was Macron’s message to Trump

Thirty state leaders gathered under the Crystal Crown of the Élysée Palace in Paris on Thursday to discuss Ukraine support, peace and upcoming security arrangements.

Almost four hours after the meeting lasted by the Republic’s President Alexander Stubb told Finnish media that at the initiative of Finland, France and the United Kingdom will take on a more official position in the leadership of the Ukraine support group.

“They represent us in Europe, and they organize further work at military and political levels,” Stubb said.

He also highlighted four other central points from the achievements of the Paris meeting.

According to Stubb, the first message is that Europe is uniform.

Another achievement of the meeting was that Stubb, according to Stubb, was that the message to Ukraine was clear: the coalition of the willingness will continue to continue in Ukraine’s military, economic and political support.

According to Stubb, it is also the fact that the message to the United States is clear: Europe supports Ukraine, and together with Ukraine, continues to reach a complete ceasefire and seek sustainable peace.

This message of the French President had directly told the US President For Donald Trump Thursday morning.

According to Stubb, “the United States slowly, but certainly understands and sees that Russia strives to delay the ceasefire and does not necessarily want peace.”

“The faster we get the US ally to understand this, the better,” Stubb said.

In Russia, Europe communicates that sanctions are not dismantled, on the contrary. According to Stubb, the next sanction package is now being built.

Troops to Ukraine?

Stubb did not comment on whether some of the European countries were sending troops to support Ukraine. He reminded that Ukraine has the strongest military forces in Europe and about 800,000 soldiers.

“The fact that Europe sends a few thousand soldiers doesn’t bring much more.”

According to Stubb, the first part of the peace process is a ceasefire that is not yet available.

“It’s not peace. It requires some kind of monitoring. The OSCE failed for Minsk’s contracts, so now some sort of solution is being sought.”

“After peace, one can talk about peacekeeping. Whether there are some countries in a few countries at this point to send troops to Ukraine then another thing,” Stubb said.

The President said that the Ukraine coalition countries had received from the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyiltä An overview of the war situation. According to Stubb, it is better than what could be deduced from publicity or especially social media.

Stubb said that only Ukraine, Europe and the United States supported a comprehensive ceasefire. Russia does not even support a gradual ceasefire but set conditions.

Bump in the entrance

Stubb announced his arrival twice at the meeting, a small protocol for a look.

“The Finnish Entré is so important that we come twice,” Stubb chuckled.

He said the reason for the second entry was that the French president Emmanuel Macron He wanted to be receiving him, so he had to arrive again.

The first time the French President was apparently talking to Trump and did not get against Stubb.
