The Finnish cottage enthusiasm, including the reduced money for renovation

Finnish Cottage has clearly fallen from the top of the corona time, as shown in the preliminary results of a fresh cottage barometer.

Last year, an average of 85 days a year was spent at the cottage, compared with just over a hundred days in the corona year.

Despite the decline in the cottage, teleworking from the cottage has even increased slightly. 27 % of the employees in the holiday home say they work remotely from their holiday home. In the previous survey, the corresponding figure was 25 %. According to the barometer, a larger proportion is also willing to do more telework from the cottage in the future.

Fixed broadband in cabins has become more common and is now found in 12 % of the cottages. In the last survey, fixed broadband was eight % of the cottages.

Barometer One third of the respondents report that the level of equipment in a holiday home has been improved over the last 12 months. 16 % of respondents intend to improve the level in the future. Both sections are smaller than last barometer, ie enthusiasm and intentions to renovate the cottage have decreased.

The amount of euros used for construction and renovation a year has also decreased by up to a thousand euros from the last survey.

Three out of four cabins are covered by network electricity. Solar panels have become more common, as are heat pumps as a form of heating. By 2020, the heat pump was 28 % of the cottages, now 34 %.

According to the barometer, basic heat is not kept on the same often year -round as before, even if possible.

Cottage They are pleased with the services of the cottage and the surrounding area. Satisfaction with, for example, telephone connections, wireless internet access and health services have slightly fallen.

According to the barometer, there is no interest in the local community in the activities of the local community unless the events are included.

The Economic Survey carried out a barometer on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Archipelago Advisory Board. More than 1,100 cottage owners responded to the electronic survey in January -February this year. The barometer will be published in full in the summer.
