The executive director for Mexico and Central America of Walmart, Ignacio Caride, announced an investment in our country of 6 billion dollars (approximately 125 billion pesos) for 2025 for the expansion of its self -service chain and the construction of two distribution centers – in Tlaxcala and the Bajío – with high technology. With these projects, the company estimates generating 5,500 places, which will be added to the 200 thousand workers who already work in that company.
During a long -distance link at the presidential conference, Caride stressed that Walmart currently has 33 thousand suppliers, of which 85 percent are small and medium -sized Mexican companies. “What makes us an important development engine. About 83 percent of all the products we sell in our stores and clubs are proudly ‘made in Mexico’, and we have already affiliated with the campaign promoted by its government.”
He also commented that Walmart works with 30 thousand farmers so that they can formalize, grow, access financing and thus become directly suppliers directly, without intermediaries.
In turn, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo stressed the importance of the company being a self -service chain that fundamentally sell Mexican products.
Although 83 percent is enough, that the sales content that comes from national production continues to increase, which is part of what we are working with different companies.
