American restaurant chain Hooters applies for bankruptcy, but regular customers do not have to despair: “return to the roots”

During the bankruptcy process, the company is planning to sell all its own restaurants to two franchise groups that are already operating several Hooters locations in Tampa (Florida) and Chicago (Illinois). Hooters stated that it is planning to get out of the bankruptcy within “about 90 to 120 days”.

“Today’s announcement marks an important milestone in our efforts to strengthen the financial basis of Hooters and to continue to deliver guest -oriented hospitality and the delicious food that our customers and communities are expecting from us,” said Sal Melilli, CEO of Hooters or America, in the press release.

The buyers include the Franchise Group Hooters Inc. It is led by CEO Neil Kiefer, one of the original founders of the restaurant chain. “For years, the brand has been in the hands of companies and groups without history or experience with the Hooters brand,” said Kiefer. In an interview with Bloomberg News, he stated that he wants to make the chain more “family -friendly” in the future, but also to “return to the roots”.
