Volvo will have to make more cars in his American factory. That is what CEO Håkan Samuelsson, who makes a comeback at the Swedish car manufacturer, said in an interview with Bloomberg news agency.
US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that from now on the United States will apply a levy of 25 percent to the import of cars into the country.
Volvo opened its first American factory in South Carolina in 2018. The company will now have to make more cars, says the CEO. The Sweden already make the EX90 and the Polestar 3. “We will have to raise the number of cars we make in the US and certainly also have to bring a model to that factory,” says Samuelsson.
Gent
Volvo also has an important location in Ghent. There the company is preparing the factory to make the production of the fully electric EX30 possible. Eighty percent of Ghent EX30 cars are intended for the European market, but it was also announced that the car would be carried out to the US. Last year, 15 percent of Ghent production was intended for the United States.
