Wind power manufacturer Siemens Gamesa Has completed installation of the world’s largest sea wind power in Denmark. The 21.5-megawatt wind farm is located at the Østerild Test Center, Power Magazine reported.
Until now, the title of the largest wind turbine has been a member of the Chinese Mingyang Smart Energy’s 20 megawatt power plant. Siemens Gamesa’s second largest wind turbine is 14 megawatts nominal power.
For the first time in the summer of 2024, the Siemens Gamesa project was reported.
The company received EUR 30 million from the European Union Innovation Fund for its project.
Last December, rumors of the installation of a wind turbine. T&T reported then, that street lamps and traffic signs were removed from the wind turbine transport route. It was concluded that parts of the wind turbine were on its way to the west coast of Denmark Jutlane.
The prototype completed in early April will test advanced technology before full -scale production is started. Its rotor has a diameter of 276 meters.
It remains to be seen how long the Siemens Gamesa power plant is the largest in the world.
Chinese Dongfang has developed 26 megawatt units, that has been completed from the production linebut its installation is still expected. Its rotor has a diameter of up to 310 meters.
In addition, Mingyang Smart Energy is planning a 22-megawatt power plant.
