A low-cost alternative to Le Bourget airport… Châteaudun is equipped with a business aviation terminal

Sale of fuel (Avgas), graspers and now services for crews and private jet passengers, the Grand Châteaudun aerodrome continues its development with the creation of a business aviation terminal.

“We realized that it was missing when the crews were coming. They asked for a space to print their flight plan or to have a coffee and rest before redecolling, ”says Quentin Étienne, responsible for marketing the site. 3,500 movements were recorded in 2024 on the old air force track. To better accommodate these VIPS, the Dunois aerodrome has invested 20,000 euros to transform two rooms of the former infirmary into a modern and comfortable passenger lounge, and an office dedicated to crews.

“Once the plane arose, this allows you to offer airport assistance, that is to say the guidance and setting of the plane, boarding and landing of passengers and crews, access to the Terminal Case, the treatment of luggage or the concierge for the booking of hotels or taxis,” continues the manager.

To enhance aeronautical service center, the aerodrome is based on the Sky Valet Connect network, the first business aviation hub with 43 stops in Europe and a presence in Spain, Portugal, Greece, or in Cyprus but also in France (Cannes, Saint-Tropez and Paris-Le Bourget).

The former military hangar will be renovated

An economic opportunity for territorial players. “General affairs aviation is made for the territory. Last summer a TBM 900 plane that came from the Alps landed. In a company with less than ten employees, he generated an order of 1.1 million euros for this TPE with turnover of 1.5 million euros. This boss has never come by train or by car ”likes to recall, Fabien Verdier, the president of the Grand Châteaudun. This new airport assistance offer positions the Châteaudun track as a low-cost alternative south of Paris at Le Bourget airport, which totals 50,000 movements per year with its seven private business aviation terminals.

In addition to its aeronautical service center, the Grand Châteaudun aerodrome will launch, in the second half of 2025, the rehabilitation of the metal hangar “HM 2”. The former military hangar with an area of nearly 7,000 m² will be renovated to allow him to accommodate regional civil aircraft for several weeks, Type, or even monocouroières, such as A320. Currently, Châteaudun aerodrome already has twenty customers, and twelve planes based, for a turnover of 2.4 million euros.

To promote the Châteaudun destinations a little more, Air Châteaudun (SPL) will be exhibiting during the next Aero Friedrichshafen (Hall 5, stand 118), alongside the Grand Châteaudun tourist office from April 9 to 12, 2025.
