STT: The multinational Gunvor Group also buys Teboil

The multinational Gunvor Group buys the Russian oil company Lukoil. The agreement covers all of the company’s international holdings, including Teboil, which operates in Finland.

The Russian energy company Lukoil has received a purchase offer for its international operations from Gunvor Group.

The founders of Gunvor Group include businessman Gennady Timchenko, who is known as a friend of Putin and is on the sanctions list.

If implemented, the deal would probably also affect the crisis-ridden Teboil, which belongs to Lukoil.

Russian energy company Lukoil said on Thursday that it had received a purchase offer for its international operations.

The multinational Gunvor Group said it was willing to buy these non-Russian operations.

According to the letter seen by STT, Teboil has confirmed to its stakeholders that its ownership will be transferred from the Russian oil company Lukoil to the Gunvor Group.

Teboil says in its letter that it will take all reasonable steps to fulfill its obligations, the implementation of which may have been delayed due to, among other things, sanctions restrictions.

In practice, the purchase offer therefore also applies to the Finnish fuel company Teboil, which is owned by Lukoil.

Gunvor like Lukoil, is strongly linked to the current management of Russia. The founders include a businessman known to Finns Gennady Timchenko.

Timchenko founded Gunvor websites according to the company in 2000 the Swedish Torbjörn Törnqvistin with. They have made billions selling Russian oil to the world.

Last year, Gunvor Group reported that it made a turnover of 136 billion dollars, or a good 117 billion euros. After taxes, the company made a profit of 729 million dollars, or about 628 million euros.
