Italian design conquers Madrid: "Extraordinary prize" to Kleos’ ‘little dolls’

Italian design conquers the international scene. THE’ azienda Kleos Design has won international recognition “Straordinario Award – The eternal art of stone” at the Architecture Madrid Awards (AMA) 2025 for the Kokeshi collection created by the creative director Elisabetta Di Maddalena who received the award last October 30th at the Teatro Magno in Madrid.

The Kokeshi collection consists of ten sculptures in Roman travertine of different shapes and shades inspired by Japanese tradition, an artistic creation that combines Italian tradition and contemporary design.

“This recognition – underlined Elisabetta Di Maddalena, immediately after receiving the award in Madrid – highlights our commitment to transforming Roman travertine into a timeless symbol. The stone dolls exude a dreamlike aura, each of them has a name and a distinctive shape capable of combining elegance and simplicity. Our art is minimal with oriental references and matter transforms into a dream, evoking meditative and introspective paths”.

For Elisabetta Di Maddalena, Roman travertine “is a very versatile material. In a laboratory dedicated to the creations of Kleos Stone Design – she finally explained – the blocks of stone are carefully selected and transformed into design objects that blend different cultures and offer a new perspective on the world of art”.

Kleos Design is an all-female company led byElettra Lippiello who expressed great satisfaction with the award received in Madrid, saying that the brand “is developing and evolving very rapidly, increasingly establishing itself on the international art and design scene”.
