Earlier this month, four members of a Turkish-German family from Hamburg were killed in a hotel in the Turkish city of Istanbul. It was initially believed that the four had fallen victim to food poisoning, but a preliminary forensic doctor’s report suggested that pest control in the room below the family’s may have caused their deaths. The four are said to have died of ‘chemical poisoning’, caused by the improper use of a pesticide against bed bugs.

A few days later it became known that two Dutch sisters had also been hospitalized in Istanbul. Here too, an investigation was launched into alleged food poisoning, because the sisters had become unwell after eating and drinking something near their hotel. That research is currently continuing.
It now appears that a 3-year-old boy died in April as a result of pesticide poisoning. Although there is still a preliminary report on the Turkish-German family, it cannot yet be said with certainty whether there is a connection with the death of the 3-year-old boy, although the same pest control company was used each time.

The boy’s father reportedly filed a complaint against the pest control company. The Istanbul public prosecutor’s office is said to have opened an investigation into the 3-year-old’s case.
