Renault stops manufacturing three iconic models at its Córdoba plant

Although it was already known that Renault planned to discontinue its production of its Logan, Sandero and Stepway models at its Córdoba plant, now the automaker has set a specific date: it will be from December, after nine years in production.

The notice was officially finalized this Thursday. The company reported that these models “they will begin their industrial end-of-life process and commercial in Argentina, starting in December 2025.”

The measure is given “as part of a strategic evolution of the regional portfolio and preparation for a new industrial stage of products and technologies manufactured in its plant.”

“With about 160 thousand units manufactured Over the course of a decade, Sandero, Logan and Stepway were benchmarks in the Argentine and regional market, accompanying hundreds of thousands of Argentine customers, becoming pillars of accessibility and reliability for the brand,” they added in the statement.

The Logan began manufacturing in Argentina in December 2016although it had begun to be sold in the country in 2007, imported from Brazil. It shared a platform with the Sandero and the Stepway and Logan.

The automaker reported that those who were paying savings plans for those vehicles they will be able to replace them with the Kardian, which is produced in Brazil.

It has been known for months that Renault is going to concentrate the production of its Santa Isabel factory on commercial vehicles: After the launch of its new Niagara pickup, in mid-2026, it will later add the renewal of the Kangoo utility vehicle. Both models, the Niagara (it is not yet known if it will be its final commercial name) and the new Kangoo (still undated, but with the project already firm) will share the same “multimodal” production line that is being installed on the Santa Isabel property, as part of an investment of 350 million dollars.

In the midst of plant closures, layoffs and multinationals leaving, Renault took care to highlight that “the company reaffirms its commitment to the Argentine industry. The transition will be orderly and progressive, preserving activity of the local plant and projecting the new productive opportunities that come with the project Concept Niagara, with a significant volume and with a strong export orientation.”

The Niagara truck will share a platform with the new Kangoo to optimize investments. That is the most modern platform that the group has worldwide. The company’s plan is to have the factory working in two shifts, with two thirds manufacturing the pickup truck and one third manufacturing the utility vehicle.
