KTM boss Neumeister: Stock reduction is happening faster than expected

KTM company boss Gottfried Neumeister is satisfied with the development of the Upper Austrian motorcycle manufacturer one year after the bankruptcy. “The dismantling of the camp is happening faster and better than originally expected and planned,” said Neumeister on Saturday ORF-Radio. Sales are also progressing well – “despite the adverse circumstances, despite the bad news.” One-shift operation will continue in 2026.

115,000 motorcycles are expected to be produced in 2026

The “excessive inventory” from the previous year needs to be reduced, says Neumeister, and that takes time. Next year they want to produce 115,000 motorcycles in Austria, “that’s really the maximum number that is possible in a one-shift operation.” In general, there is relief, “not just for me, but for the entire workforce, for many customers, for many dealers and also for many suppliers.”

Insolvency not yet foreseeable when starting the job

Bankruptcy was not foreseeable for Neumeister when he took up his job last year. There are “no big wave of layoffs planned in any way”; on the contrary, we are looking for new employees. Neumeister is appointed as CEO until August 31, 2026; if owner Bajaj wishes, he would “of course” reposition himself.
