One of the founders of Google, Sergey Brin, donated shares of Alphabet Inc. to charity. worth over $1.1 billion, Interfax reports, citing documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
According to official data, Brin allocated more than 3.5 million shares for these purposes last week.
As reported by Bloomberg, citing a representative of Brin’s family office, shares worth about $1 billion were transferred to Catalyst4, a non-profit organization created by the billionaire in 2021 to support research in the field of diseases of the central nervous system and solutions to combat climate change.
Brin also gave $90 million to his family foundation and $45 million to actor Michael J. Fox’s foundation, which focuses on research related to Parkinson’s disease.
