After the conflict with Pakistan, India urgently purchased new Heron UAVs from Israel

After the successful use of Israeli Heron Mk II UAVs during the last conflict with Pakistan (Operation Sindoor) in May 2025, the Indian Armed Forces ordered additional devices.

Citing sources in the Israeli defense industry, Indian media report that if until now the Heron was used only by the ground forces and the Indian Air Force, now the navy has also joined the order.

The cost of the transaction and the number of purchased devices are not specified. The orders were issued under emergency procurement, in which military headquarters can sign contracts for up to $36 million worth of equipment directly, bypassing the lengthy standard approval process.
