“It’s lamentable”: victim of a hoax, a restaurateur manages to sell his fake order of 60 pizzas thanks to social networks

A bad joke that could have cost him dearly. But fortunately for him, the owner of the pizzeria Ti Bigoud’Pizz, in Pluguffan (Finistère), was able to count on the solidarity of social networks to extricate him from this bad situation.

Sunday November 30, around 6:15 p.m., Benjamin Ollivier received a call. The person on the other end of the phone orders him 60 pizzas for 8:30 p.m., he tells Télégramme. The restaurateur and his team rush to the kitchen to deliver the 20 4-cheese pizzas, 20 Indian pizzas, 10 Reginas and 10 chorizos on time, going so far as to refuse other customers during preparation.

At 8:45 p.m., the pizzeria has not heard from its customer. Benjamin Ollivier decides to call the number that had been left for him. “The person who picked up told me that she was in the south of France… I understand that it was a false order, the hard blow,” he recalled to Le Télégramme.

“We are “selling off” our pizzas at 5 euros each”

Far from being discouraged, the man who had “never experienced a mishap like this” had an idea: publish a message on Facebook to sell off his stock. “Following a false order of 60 pizzas, we are “selling out” our pizzas at 5 euros each. Reservation to be made via Messenger. (…) Come and collect tomorrow. (…) Don’t hesitate to share with those around you. »

The appeal is a success. A quarter of an hour later, all the pizzas are sold. “Thank you everyone for your support, we are very grateful,” wrote the pizza maker who received a total of more than 200 requests. There’s nothing left at all. You are awesome. »

Many of those who were unable to place an order were outraged. “Solidarity with you. It’s pitiful what was done to you. I was going to order two 4 cheeses but I just saw that you managed to sell out all the pizzas. Good for you,” writes a customer. “Too late to order but phew if you were able to sell your pizzas, surely at a loss. Good luck to you,” says another.

Others, less empathetic, wonder about validating “an order of 60 pizzas without requiring payment in advance”. Benjamin Ollivier has his response: for more than 10 pizzas ordered, customers will now have to come and pay a deposit.
