Indonesian Ministry of Economy on joining the OECD: we will not trade support for Palestine for the voice of Israel

Indonesian Economy Minister Airlangga Hartarto, discussing the country’s bid to join the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), said that Jakarta’s position on recognizing Israel, voiced by the country’s President Prabowo Subianto at the UN General Assembly, remains unchanged.

Let us recall that Subianto declared his readiness to recognize Israel in exchange for Israel’s recognition of the state of Palestine.

Israel’s position remains one of the significant obstacles to Indonesia’s entry into the OECD. Membership in the organization requires the consent of all 38 current members, including Israel, which joined the OECD in 2010.
