The head of Nokia’s mobile phone networks is leaving the company

Nokia already announced at the beginning of November that Uitto will leave the management team at the turn of the year.

Nokia already announced at its capital market day in November that Uitto will leave the management team at the end of December. The CEO serves as the temporary manager of mobile phone networks Justin Hotard.

In November the company’s internal discussion channel wondered why Uito was not thanked for his nearly 30-year career at Nokia in the press release.

A little over five years ago, Uito had a significant impact on Nokia’s success in catching up with its competitors in fifth-generation mobile network technology.

He was also one of Nokia’s former CEOs Pekka Lundmarkin trusted ones. According to HS, current CEO Hotard did not get along with Uito.

“I try to find the best possible talent for the job as quickly as possible, either from within or outside the company,” Hotard said after the capital market day.

Although Uitto is still in Nokia’s management team, the company did not announce his departure in a stock exchange release. Instead, the company sent a statement thanking Uitto for his impressive career.

“Tommi has played a decisive role as the head of the mobile phone networks business group during a challenging time. He helped stabilize its business, improve product quality and competitiveness, and support the growth of the defense sector’s business. The company is grateful for his leadership and more than three decades of work for Nokia.”

Uitto was also involved in facilitating Nokia’s cooperation with the semiconductor company Nvidia. In October, Nvidia announced that it would invest one billion dollars in Nokia.

Tuesday Uitto sent a message to all Nokia employees.

“Thank you to all the smart, capable and hard-working people around the world that I had the privilege of working with over the past 30 years.”

“Thanks to Nokia that I had the opportunity to be in exciting, challenging and rewarding positions.”
