Gulf countries’ bonds are a haven for Asian investors looking for growth

The volume of trade between the Gulf and Asia last year amounted to $516 billion. The International Monetary Fund expects the Gulf economy to grow by 3.9% this year. Asian investors are turning to alternative markets for the United States and China. An analysis conducted by Reuters showed that Asian investors turned heavily to the bond and debt markets in the Gulf countries this year, which reflects the deepening of trade and financial relations with this rapidly growing region, in addition to the state of uncertainty that prevails in many other places, including the two largest economies in the world, the United States and China. Bond issuance in the Middle East and North Africa region jumped 20% year-on-year to reach $126 billion in the nine months.
