1,500 MW thermal power project in Quang Tri

Quang Trach III LNG thermal power project belongs to Quang Trach Electricity Center project with a total area of ​​about 74 hectares built in Phu Trach commune. The factory uses combined cycle gas turbine technology, capacity of 1,500 MW, total preliminary investment of 41,826 billion VND. Of which, Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) capital is 20% and domestic commercial loans are 80%.

Currently, EVN and Power Project Management Board 2 are accelerating the progress of preparing a feasibility study report to submit to the People’s Committee of Quang Tri province for appraisal as a basis for approval.

This project is part of the adjusted power plan VIII approved by the Prime Minister, and is expected to create a strong economic growth driver for Quang Tri province and the North Central region through contributing about 1,200 billion VND per year to the budget.

Quang Trach Power Center project has a capacity of about 4,500 MW, including Quang Trach I thermal power plant, Quang Trach II LNG and Quang Trach III LNG. When put into operation, each plant will provide the national electricity system with an annual electricity output of about 9.1 billion kWh, contributing to ensuring national energy security and improving the safety and stability of the electricity system.
