BBVA and OpenAI agree to accelerate the use of artificial intelligence

Madrid. The Spanish bank BBVA and the American giant OpenAI, creator of ChatGPT, announced on Friday a “strategic agreement” to accelerate the widespread deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) in the financial group.

The agreement, whose cost was not revealed, “seeks to create a conversational and intelligent assistant capable of accompanying people in their daily financial lives,” said BBVA, whose more than 120,000 employees will have ChatGPT Enterprise at their disposal.

The widespread use of this platform in the second largest Spanish bank comes after a trial period with 11,000 employees, 80 percent of whom said they had saved “on average three hours a week on routine tasks.”

This is “one of the largest enterprise deployments of generative AI in the financial services sector,” OpenAI, which currently claims to have more than one million professional clients, including companies, welcomed in a statement.
