The Ministry of Transport has begun to consider changes in regulation for foreign airlines operating in Israel.
In particular, the possibility of allowing foreign airlines to place aircraft in Israel is being considered.
Transport Minister Miri Regev has tasked the Civil Aviation Authority to study changes to current regulations as part of efforts to reduce prices in the airline industry.
The Ministry of Transport notes that a recent economic analysis indicates a significant positive contribution to the economy if foreign operators are allowed to permanently operate in Israel. However, the review process will also include an assessment of the impact on Israeli airlines to ensure that the move does not harm the stability of the industry.
The Minister of Transport ordered the results to be presented within thirty days.
