STOCK EXCHANGE: Novo Nordisk and Saab rise on the stock exchanges

On Tuesday, European stock markets opened mostly higher. The broad Stoxx 600 index was up 0.2 percent.

Shares in the healthcare sector and especially a pharmaceutical company led the rise Novo Nordisk.

Immediately after the stock market opened, the company’s share rose by about seven percent and has since leveled off to a rise of 5.7 percent.

Novo’s Wegovy slimming drug was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration FDA on the night between Monday and Tuesday Finnish time.

It is the first oral weight loss drug to be approved by the US government.

According to Novo, the once-daily Wegovy pill is a “convenient alternative” to the injectable version and offers the same weight loss as an injection.

The pill is expected to hit the US market in January 2026.

Shares in the defense and financial sectors were also rising on European stock exchanges.

Swedish defense and aerospace company Saab said that he had received an order from the Lithuanian government for the company’s AT4 gun and ammunition for the Carl-Gustaf gun. In total, the value of the order is 1.3 billion Swedish kronor, or about 120 million euros.

Saab’s share was up 3.5 percent.

Market futures predict that Wall Street will open to a gentle rise today.
