Porr takes over shares in thermal baths from Vamed

Porr and the German healthcare group Fresenius, the seller, announced this on Tuesday. Also part of the package Minority stakes in five Austrian thermal baths. The acquisition will be completed on December 31st.

Porr is thus strengthening its skills in the holistic planning and implementation of hospitals and health facilities, the broadcast said. The orders taken on in Austria should be “accompanied and implemented with the usual professionalism”.

These included the Reutte District Hospital, the AUVA Trauma Center Brigittenau and the AUVA Rehabilitation Center Vienna. Porr already has many years of experience in the health sector: on the one hand through the construction of health facilities, on the other hand through its investments in a total of eight clinics and health facilities in Austria.

Porr also takes over the thermal spa business

Subject to further approval, Porr will also take over the existing minority interests in five Austrian thermal spa resorts and the Vamed Vitality World operation, which, among other things, manages these thermal spas.

These included the Tirol Therme Längenfeld, the Spa Resort Geinberg, the Thermenresort Laa, the St. Martins Therme & Lodge in Frauenkirchen and the Tauern Spa Zell am See – Kaprun. There is no direct participation in the Therme Wien, but there is also a management agreement.

Porr and Strabag originally announced their joint purchase of the Vamed Austria division in May 2024. In October of this year it was announced that Porr would take over Vamed’s Austrian project development business and the thermal spa investments in Austria alone.

Strabag then initially negotiated separately about taking over the operational management of the Vienna General Hospital (part of the Vamed business, note). A short time later, however, talks between Strabag and the health service provider Viacama ended without agreement.
