Approval for Wegovy – Novo Nordisk’s share is on the rise

Pharmaceutical industry company Novo Nordisk was on the rise after the pill form of its weight loss drug Wegovy was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration.

The company’s share was up almost seven percent after the stock market opened.

It is the first oral weight loss drug to be approved by the US government.

Other drugs, such as Ozempic, with similar weight-loss effects are primarily approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.

According to Novo, the once-daily Wegovy pill is a “convenient alternative” to the injectable version and offers the same weight loss as an injection.

According to the company, an average weight loss of 16.6 percent was achieved with Wegovy pills in trials. Of the roughly 1,300 participants, a third lost 20 percent or more in the same study.

Since the beginning of the year, the company’s share price has fallen by about 50 percent.
