Shares rose again to a new record in the United States

of the United States stronger-than-anticipated economic growth pushed shares to yet another record high.

One of the world’s most important stock indices, the US S&P 500, gained 0.5 percent to 6,910 points on Tuesday. During the current year, the index has strengthened by more than 17 percent.

Based on data published by the US Department of Labor on Tuesday, the annual growth rate of the economy was 4.3 percent in July–September. It was clearly more than expected.

News agency In Bloomberg’s preliminary survey, economists estimated the growth rate to have been 3.3 percent. The US economy has been strengthened, especially by the noticeable increase in household consumption.

In the previous quarter, i.e. April–June, the economic growth rate was 3.8 percent.

According to a forecast published by the US Federal Reserve in mid-December, the US economy will grow by 1.7 percent this year and 2.3 percent next year.

The United States is the largest national economy in the world, which has a significant impact on the entire world economy. For many Finnish companies, the United States is an important market area.

Tuesday gold, used as a safe haven by investors, also became more expensive. Its price rose above $4,500 per troy ounce for the first time. One troy ounce equals 31.1 grams.

According to Bloomberg, the increase in the price of gold was primarily due to the fact that the tensions between the United States and Venezuela have escalated.
