Everyone was waiting for Zim’s shareholder meeting, but almost no one showed up

Apparently, after the agreed compromise, at the meeting held on the 26th of the month, the proposals were supposed to pass without any drama. But then a new problem emerged: most of the shareholders who were invited did not come (or send their votes).

According to Zim’s report from today (Monday), the meeting was attended by shareholders holding approximately 38 million shares of the company, which constitute 31.65% of Zim’s issued shares. “Since the number of (owners of) ordinary shares present at the meeting was lower than the legal quorum required by the company’s bylaws – at least 33.33% – in accordance with the company’s bylaws, a postponed meeting will be held on January 2, 2026,” Zim announced.

We will remind you that the maritime transport company is currently also in the process of a strategic review led by the board of directors led by chairman Yair Sarousi, and is designed to examine options for creating value for the shareholders. As far as is known, offers to purchase ZIM from foreign entities were received as part of the process, which led the company’s employees’ committee to declare a labor dispute.

Zim is traded on the New York Stock Exchange and its market value is about 2.6 billion dollars.
