The appointment of Abadi-Boinjo to the post of chief auditor of the Ministry of Finance was approved

The Appointments Commission approved the proposal of Finance Minister Smotrich to appoint Michal Abadi-Boinjo to the position of Chief Auditor of the Ministry of Finance.

To complete the procedure, her appointment must be approved by the government.

Abadi-Boinjo is due to take office on February 1, when the term of current Auditor General Yaheli Rotenberg expires.

She will be the first woman appointed by Smotrich to a senior position in the Ministry of Finance. During his tenure, Smotrich appointed the person responsible for salaries, the chief economist, the head of the Tax Administration, the head of the Securities Administration, the person responsible for the capital market and the press secretary of the Ministry of Finance. All appointees were men, and in all cases the appointments were made with significant delays.

This will be Abadi-Boinjo’s second tenure as auditor general. She already held this post in 2011-2017.
