Amazon, Chanel, a new aquatic center and the continuation of the Seine-Nord Canal: the major projects of 2026 in the Oise

After a year of crisis in 2025 for employment and industry in Oise, will 2026 reverse the trend? While last year, many of the department’s industrial flagships were faced with staff reduction plans, the coming year sees several projects with high employment potential announced, such as Amazon, Chanel and the Seine-Nord Canal. In terms of leisure, residents of the Thourotte sector will finally be able to have access to their new aquatic center, announced almost 10 years ago.

1,000 jobs expected on the future Amazon site in Beauvais

With the establishment of its future logistics center in Beauvais, Amazon is establishing itself as the main provider of private jobs expected in the Oise by 2026. The site, developed in the Novaparc area, is due to enter service at the end of the year and could ultimately employ up to 1,000 employees. Recruitments will mainly concern positions in logistics, maintenance, middle management and support functions.

The recruitment phase for the Beauvais site should begin at the end of spring 2026. “90% of these positions are aimed at a public far removed from employment,” announced Patrick Labarre, president of Amazon France logistics, in October 2025. No prior experience and no specific diploma are required. We will provide training for those recruited.

Chanel expands in Compiégnois

In Venette, near Compiègne, Chanel is preparing to strengthen its presence in the Oise with a new production unit dedicated to the most famous luxury perfumes, such as Chanel No. 5. A 150 million euro project, located in the Bois-de-Plaisance area straddling Venette and Lachelle, which should gradually come into operation from 2026 and should generate around 300 direct jobs according to Le Journal du luxe. Unlike large logistics projects, these recruitments will mainly concern qualified profiles: specialized operators, technicians, quality control personnel, industrial logistics and management.

Seine-Nord Europe Canal: the construction site enters its active phase

Officially launched at the end of 2022, the Seine-Nord Europe canal project will enter, from 2026, a new phase that is much more visible and operational in the Oise. After a long period devoted to studies, environmental procedures, land acquisitions and market preparation, the project is now moving towards the ramp-up of heavy works.

This stage will result in the continued digging of the route, the launch of large earthworks and the construction of engineering structures, in particular bridges and road restoration.. In Compiégnois and Noyonnais, several sectors must see the establishment of long-term work bases and full capacity construction sites, with the result of a sharp increase in the workforce mobilized and significant benefits for local construction, transport and materials companies.

The new Thourotte Aquatic Center will finally open

Announced since 2017, the future aquatic center supported by the community of communes of Deux Vallées, in Thourotte, should open in September 2026, in order to replace the old George-Bonichot swimming pool, in service since 1978. A 10.2 million euro project which has fallen behind schedule due to Covid, the explosion of costs after the war in Ukraine or even due to technical and financial arbitrations. The public will be able to discover a 25 m pool for five swimming lanes, a 3 m high diving board, a 3.6 m deep diving pit, or even around twenty water games for children.
