US duties on pasta: new assessment reduces rates

Lighter duties on made in Italy pasta. “The United States Department of Commerce made some assessments known overnight – in advance of the conclusion of the investigation expected on March 11 – in relation to anti-dumping duties on some Italian pasta brands.

The post-preliminary analysis in fact redefines the rates provisionally set last September 4th to a significantly lower extent: from 91.74%, the duties go to 2.26% for La Molisana, to 13.98% for Garofalo and to 9.09% for the other 11 non-sampled producers.

The redetermination of duties is a sign of recognition of the active willingness of our companies to collaborate by the US authorities. It is also a sign of the effectiveness of the support ensured by the Farnesina and the Government from the beginning and which we intend to continue to ensure in view of the final decisions”. This was announced in a note from the Farnesina.

Lollobrigida, serious work bears fruit

“The good news coming from the United States demonstrates how serious work, without unnecessary alarmism, bears fruit. We followed the story right from the start, in October in Chicago together with Ambassador Marco Peronaci we gave an important signal: Italian institutions would not abandon Italian pasta producers. Today we know we have chosen the right path and tariffs have been significantly reduced. Once again we have shown that teamwork pays off and Italy is strong and respected in the world.” Thus the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida.
