Vietnam’s digital music market revenue reached more than 1,370 billion VND last year, ranking 6th in Southeast Asia, creating conditions for the concert industry to develop.
A recent report from RMIT Vietnam University cited data from Statista (a global market research firm) showing that digital music market revenue in 2025 is estimated to reach 51.95 million USD, equivalent to more than 1,370 billion VND. This number increases by nearly 9% compared to 2024.
Digital music revenue is a component of the entire music market’s revenue, in addition to traditional music including physical music (albums) and live performances. For many years, digital music has dominated the market share of traditional music with a share of nearly 57% for the global average last year. In Vietnam, the digital music market may account for a larger proportion because physical music products (albums) are gradually becoming less popular and the live performance market is not as mature as in many other countries.
In digital music, the market is divided into segments including streaming music, advertising on streaming music platforms, podcast advertising and downloaded music. In 2025, revenue from streaming music accounts for more than half of Vietnam’s digital music market, reaching over 27.5 million USD.
Vietnamese digital music currently ranks 6th in revenue in Southeast Asia, behind Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia. In particular, Vietnam’s revenue level maintains a very far distance from leading countries when Indonesia reaches nearly 264.5 million USD, Thailand reaches about 204.5 million USD.
With a scale of about 1,370 billion VND in 2025, Vietnam’s digital music market revenue is equivalent to the livestream games industry (live viewing of gaming content) – a digital entertainment segment with a large young audience in Vietnam – estimated to reach about 1,900 billion VND in 2025, according to Statista. However, this number is still very modest compared to the more than 1 billion USD of total OTT and digital entertainment market revenue in Vietnam (combining YouTube, Netflix and online movie platforms).
According to Statista’s forecast, digital music market revenue is expected to increase from 51.95 million USD last year to 74.47 million USD in 2030. The main driver for growth is the expansion and development of online music streaming services and local content. In the next 5 years, the compound growth rate (CAGR) of this market will reach about 7.5% per year.
The above growth rate is quite close to some key economic sectors in Vietnam. For example, the construction industry is forecast to grow about 7.6% to 2029 (according to Research and Markets), the infrastructure industry about 7% (according to Mordor Intelligence) and the manufacturing industry about 7.2% CAGR (according to Market Research Vietnam).
The above mentioned revenue of more than trillion VND was contributed by 12.57 million users. Vietnam is the country with the fourth largest number of digital music users in Southeast Asia. On average, Vietnamese people spend 5.44 USD per year to listen to music. This average revenue is almost equivalent to Indonesia (5.48 USD), although total revenue and number of users are lower. The difference mainly comes from Indonesia’s population size, which is nearly 3 times larger than Vietnam’s and the freemium model (allowing users to listen for free with ads or pay for an ad-free experience) is still popular in the island country market.
Research by RMIT Vietnam University shows that users usually spend 1 to less than 2 hours a day listening to music, with the most popular time frame being 8-10 p.m. The most used platforms are YouTube, TikTok and Spotify – all foreign. While two domestic names including Zing MP3 and My Music only ranked 5th and 7th.
Along with the digital music market, this research team also discovered many breakthroughs in the traditional music market, especially the live performance segment. The report shows that more than 810 music events took place in 2025, with the peak falling in August with 108 events.
Although the market is largely driven by small-scale events, the significant increase in music events of over 5,000 people this year has reached record levels, far surpassing all previous standards. “The image of packed stands with tens of thousands of fans is the most vivid proof of the explosion in appeal and consumption of the Vietnamese music market,” the analysis group said.

Last year, the market recorded many concerts with tens of thousands of people. A prominent group of domestic independent artists has a concert See The Light by My Tam with 40,000 spectators (1 night), concert Sketch A Rose by Ha Anh Tuan with 30,000 people (2 nights) or concert All Rounder of Soobin with about 26,000 people (3 nights).
Meanwhile, music programs also reach tens of thousands of people every night like concert series Brother overcomes thousands of thorns, She is beautiful riding the wind, Drunk brother hi, You are so beautiful hi… under the companionship of banks.
In addition, the analysis team also pointed out “national concert” as a new phenomenon with the public-private partnership (PPP) model. Music nights V Concert – Radiant Vietnam hay Fatherland In My Heart attracts 25,000-50,000 spectators each night.
