Fifteen members of the Japanese Diet from various political parties visited Israel to familiarize themselves with advanced weapons systems,
The delegation was led by Itsunori Onodera, head of the ruling party’s National Security Research Council. During the visit, which took place from January 5 to 8, the MPs met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Foreign Minister Gideon Saar and Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
“Israel has the world’s most advanced technologies in the fields of missile defense, cybersecurity and drones, which will be useful in shaping Japan’s future security policy and developing an effective security strategy that enhances deterrence,” Onodera wrote in a blog post on Network X following the visit.
It should be noted that Japan has decided to significantly increase its defense budget and is planning a significant modernization of its armed forces.
