Foodora may withdraw from Finland completely

Foodora announces that it has started change negotiations.

Food courier service Foodora announces that it has started change negotiations. According to the company, one option considered in the change negotiations is withdrawal from the Finnish market.

The company says in its press release that it is increasingly focusing on markets where it has the opportunity to grow and build a “long-term and sustainable position”.

Foodora started operating in Finland in 2015. It operates in more than a hundred locations. In addition to Finland, the company has operations in five other European countries: Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Norway and Sweden.

Foodora’s parent company is the German Delivery Hero. The market leader in the food delivery market in Finland is Wolt, which is owned by the American company Doordash.

Foodora’s Finnish company has suffered from financial difficulties for a long time. In 2021 and 2022, Delivery Hero Finland made a total of more than 30 million euros in losses. The company’s turnover was over 175 million euros in both years.

In 2023, Delivery Hero Finland barely made an effort to turn a profit, but in 2024, the company made losses of 376,000 euros again. The company has not yet filed last year’s financial statements.
